Communities
There appears to be a positive correlation between successful schools and successful communities. Some of the evidence is anecdotal and we know it to be true due to life experiences. Empirical evidence supports this notion as well, however, providing the additional support needed to begin to seriously consider the notion that the overall prosperity of a city maybe be related to the success of the school and it students. If, as a community, we can help students connect academically and socially to the school and the community at large, we help maintain the hopeful hearts and the daring dreams of the young people in the community. When we fail at this, when the dream dies and hope is no more, they are more likely to engage in at-risk behavior.
